Am primit de la Mihai W un mesaj trist. Acum, stiindu-l pe destinatar nu m-am mai apucat sa verific si in alte parti vestea. Va las sa cititi mesajul:
Really bad news I became aware of, only 25 minutes ago. You saw for yourself what a success was the commemoration organized by brother Ioan Panican of Richard Wurmbrand life and work at the prestigious Atheneum hall in Bucharest attended by over 1,100 people, in Iasi and in Cluj where the main event was also attended by over 1,000 persons. Mrs. Hossu, the film director who presented the film on Richard Wurmbrand, explained to me that this was the first time that the true hideous face of communism was shown in that Bucharest main prestigious hall in the last 18 years of freedom of speech in Romania.
Today, while Mr. Panican was out of town in Brasov, in broad afternoon daylight while sitting in a parked car in an established parking in Bucharest, Mrs. Panican was instantly killed by a car broadsiding her car. The police wait for communicating more details to Mr. Panican. Panican was on the way to Bucharest. Panican had reported to me there were some attempts on his life before. I will keep you current when I know more.
Whether a freak accident or a deliberate act, at the risk of being considered paranoic, I am afraid the crypto-communist forces in Romania are ready to repeat the many anonymous murders of anticommunists happening in Russia. It seems we are far from these criminals but who knows if far enough! I cannot emphasize more how careful all people perceived as proactively associated with the name of Richard Wurmbrand need be, especially alerting the „soft underbelly,” close friends and relatives to be careful.
Sorry to have to bring you such sad news.
God Bless, Michael
